I wanted to be able to keep all my tales blogged as I continue the adventure of life - as Mrs. Gonzalez-Sharma! Anup and I are overwhelmed with the love and support we've received the past year. It was the most exciting year and we still have no words...but we're happy to be together and starting this life together!
I'm in South Africa for the moment (yes, bad baaaaaaaaaad wife!) and hope to be done soon and back in the serenity of the vineyards and arms of my luvah. Don't get me wrong, South Africa is more beautiful than I imagined. Especially leaving 6 inches of snow in exchange for a mild summer!

Outside of work, I was able to do a few fun things - the Lion Reserve, traditional market and hanging out with friends and colleagues. Let me preempt this by saying, I am stupid and forgot my digital. So I went old school with a temporary wind up camera. Not cool.
At the Lion Reserve, I was able to pet 5 month old cubs and feed giraffes. You drive between camps of lions and lionesses who are lazy and taking in the shade - right next to your car. Well, the males are separated for the mating season and boy are they hungry for the ladies! They pace the fences just staring at the ladies, no cold shower in sight! But there was that one hyeana that tried to have his way with a lioness! I have to say, it was the most hilarious thing I've seen in a long time - he was so short he kep jumping up to get her and she just looked around bored with him. Little stinker, no luck for him!
And today was a wondeful Sunday with markets and visiting the cafe strip for some drinks with a friend. All in all, the markets are really the exact same as in Nairobi and Bujumbura. Kigali too for that matter. I was hoping to see more traditional South African crafts, but it seems there is this abundance of Congolese masks, Kenyan jewelry, Burundian carpets and other items that seem to be classic Africa. So I'm digging for the traditional!
As for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership School for Girls, it was received with mixed reviews here and some controversy. But when Mandela asks you to execute a project, well, you just don't say no. So its here and no one really knows the address, but I'm bound to bump into it, right??
All for now. Hope you're safe in whatever pocket of the world you're in!
